A Creepy Experience

A Creepy Experience

My name is Deepak and i'm 22 now. I live in a small town in India. When I was 12 years old, our family moved to a new house and it was an old house but nothing wrong about it. Things were great for the first few weeks. But one night while I was sleeping I woke up suddenly and I saw an old woman in white dress standing in front of me and she was staring at me. I was scared to death. Suddenly I realised that I can't move and that I lost my voice. I cried silently and I don't remember what happened next, I just woke up in the morning. I wanted to tell my parents about this but I didn't.
Another night after a few days, when all of us were sleeping, except my dad, he is watching tv. Suddenly the ceiling fan fell over my chest. I just can't bear the pain and I started crying like hell. My parents were worried about me and took me to a doctor. At that time when we came back and we all slept. I got this creepy feeling that I'm being watched. I just removed my blanket from my face and I can see that old woman on the ceiling. This time she was laughing at me and making very loud sounds. The thing is when ever I see her I can't move any part of my body and I can't even talk. I know I'm a kid when this happened but this isn't an imagination. I've told my mom about what happened to me and she said she also experienced something like that.
I don't know how it all stopped happening to me, but it stopped.
Also I've read somewhere that sleep paralysis may be the cause for the condition in which we cannot move or talk and when we feel tense we will imagine things that we will feel afraid. But I don't know which one is true.
Was the old woman just my imagination or a ghost?
If you guys also ever experienced anything like this, share it.

A Beach Resort Haunting

Anand is my best friend since school and one of the few ones whom I have been in regular touch. Like me, Anand too is interested in the paranormal and we have experienced one such occurrence together as described in my story "The Ghostly Hitchhikers". Anand and I are both Engineers by profession and hence life is very hectic. We rarely get a chance to meet each other though we are in constant touch on phone or via e-mail.
This incident happened couple of years back when we were in Mumbai, India. Due to a couple of public holidays in India falling in line together, we had a long weekend of around five days ahead of us. Since we had not taken a holiday for quite sometime due to our busy schedules, my wife immediately suggested that we go to a beachside resort for a couple of days to unwind. I immediately called Anand to check his availability. Anand and his wife Jyo immediately agreed and the plan was finalized within minutes.
We decided to go to a beachside resort at Murud which is around 180kms away from Mumbai and takes around 3 hours to reach. Murud has a pristine beach and is a very popular destination among tourists. There is also a fort named Janjira in the middle of the sea. Janjira fort is also famous for being the only fort along India's western coast that remained undefeated. Since all of us are interested in history, it seemed like an interesting proposition for us. Another thing to be noted at this point of time is that Murud is just 7kms from Kashid and one has to pass through Kashid to reach Murud. The highway leading to Kashid is where we had met the Ghostly Hitchhikers a couple of years ago. Though this incident was at the back of our mind, we nevertheless decided to go ahead with our plan.
We started for Murud at 7.00 am in Anand's "4X4" SUV. It was a clear morning and we managed to reach the resort at around 10.00am. Anand and I were very careful not to mention our previous experience to our respective spouses since it would frighten them and dampen their spirits. We checked in at the resort which was really very beautiful. It was situated on a hill very close to Murud beach. It had a great sea facing view from the front and a dense forest cover at the back which made us feel one with nature. We immediately rushed to the beach where we had a great time swimming and splashing around in the water. We came back to the resort at around noon, had a quick lunch, rested for a while and then set off to see Janjira fort which we were all anxious to see. The visit to the fort was great and we were back in the hotel by around 8.00pm. After a lavish dinner consisting of several local delicacies we decided to retire to our rooms. I was tired but Anand insisted that we go to his room for a game of cards before hitting the sack. My wife and Jyo too didn't mind and so we went to Anand's room.
Immediately after entering his room I suddenly felt a chill in the room which made me feel uneasy. I told Anand about it but he shrugged it aside and suggested that it might be the cool sea side breeze which might have made me feel that way. We played cards for around 2 hours and really had fun. At around 12. 00 am we decided to call it a day. We had however not reckoned that this would be the start of our ordeal and chilling events to follow.
The long day had taken its toll on us and my wife and I immediately fell off to sleep. It must have been around 1.30am when I heard a knock on my door. I cautiously opened the door and was surprised to find Anand outside. He looked a little worried and told me that after we left Jyo suddenly started feeling very cold and started shivering. Anand had found it surprising since he felt no such chill. I asked my wife who is a doctor to accompany me to Anand's room with her medicine box. Upon entering his room, I felt uneasy and could immediately sense that something was amiss. Two woolen rugs had been wrapped around Jyo but she was still shivering and her teeth were literally chattering. When my wife examined Jyo, she was stunned to find that though Jyo was feeling feverish and her body had become icy cold. Shrugging aside her fear my wife gave her a couple of tablets which would put her to sleep and give her a much needed rest. We did not want to leave Anand alone in this condition and decided to be with him. This was perhaps the best decision which I took considering the events which happened subsequently.
Anand was sitting on the bed, caressing Jyo's hand gently to put her at ease. My wife and I made ourselves comfortable on a couple of chairs available in the room. It was around 3.00 am, my wife had dozed off and I was about to follow suit when something really creepy happened. Jyo suddenly sat up straight in her bed with a look in her eyes which we had never seen before. Anand, who was sitting beside her tried to put his arm around her to comfort her. She suddenly shrugged herself free from Anand, caught him by the neck and pushed him. The force with which Anand was pushed was so great that he was literally flung like a puppet, six feet away from the bed. To do that to a person like Anand who is close to 6"3 inches tall and weighs around 90 kgs really required extraordinary strength. Jyo suddenly said the following words "Mujhe Jaane Do... Jaana hai " (Let me go... I have to go!) This still is a mystery to all of us. The voice that said those words certainly wasn't Jyo's. Jyo stood up as if in trance and was trying to go to the balcony. I have to admire the courage shown by both my wife and Anand at this point of time.
Anand and I used all our might and pinned down Jyo to her bed while my wife ran out to get help. We got a couple of housekeeping staff from the hotel in the room within a couple of minutes. I immediately told them to help us shift Jyo to my room. It took five of us to lift Jyoti and shift her to my room. All this while Jyo was only uttering the words "Mujhe Jaane Do... Jaana hai ".As soon as she was laid on the bed in my room things started to return to normal. Jyo stopped resisting and soon fell asleep much to our relief. All of us were shaken by the turn of events. We thanked the bewildered Hotel staff for their help. I noticed that it was around 5.00am at that time and perhaps with the coming of daybreak the hold of the spirit on Jyo had weakened OR Shifting her out of that room had helped.
We decided to check out the next morning. Though a little tired, Jyo was perfectly fine the next morning with no recollection of the previous night's events. She was however surprised to find herself in our room. Anand however put her at ease and told her that he would explain everything once we left the hotel. While Anand was settling the hotel bills, I was called aside by one of the hotel staff who, under the condition of anonymity told me that the room had been the scene of a gory incident a couple of months back.
A couple had checked in, they had a big fight which lasted late into the night. The man walked out off the room leaving the lady behind. After sometime the lady flung herself from the balcony of the room killing her instantly. The police had made some enquiries but were unable to trace the man who had accompanied her that night. The case was subsequently closed. The housekeeping staff had themselves felt a creepy feeling sometimes in the room, though no incident was reported by any of the occupants who occupied it after that.
We decided to let the matter rest but before leaving, advised the manager of the resort to do some sort of purification or a cleansing ritual to free the tormented soul. Whether he performed the ritual or not is not known to us since we did not visit the place again. We were just happy at that moment to have escaped without any harm.
Anand subsequently told her the events which had occurred that night. She was shaken at first, but has now come to terms with it.
However what would have happened if Anand and I would not have been able to subdue Jyo that night is a thought which still gives me the shivers.

The Dancer

The Dancer

When I was 10 my family moved to a house where we lived for 15 years. It was an old house, probably built in the 40's. I don't think the house history is very relevant to this story. However this 'dancing girl' seemed come with the house so to speak.
I have always been obsessed with music and was one of those kids who constantly sings and dances around the house. When we moved to this house I immediately got the feeling I wasn't alone while I was rocking out. You know that 'feeling' someone's watching? I'd felt that before when I was much younger, but I'd never felt it while dancing.
As time went on I started to feel a presence close by in the living room where I was dancing and then I started to notice vibrations in the floor, felt as if someone was dancing along side me. (No sub woofer shaking the floor.) The vibrations intrigued me and scared me in equal parts. I told mum, who's open minded to these things. Mum said "Sounds like you've got a little spirit friend." I agreed and sort of got used to it.
At the same time this was going on, almost every night we'd hear things go 'bump' in the night. Particularly things in the kitchen being moved about, trinkets on window sills especially. One ornament was constantly being 'played' with. This one was a wicker rabbit basket with a little toy baby inside. The lid of the rabbit was always found open in the morning. My bedroom was close to the kitchen and I could hear things being moved about after everyone had gone to bed. Mum and I also heard the occasional voice of a female. It never said anything, it was more like a sigh or a slight laugh. The sort of noise you make when you're trying to be quiet. We put it down to the mystery dancer, mum called her the 'little girl'.
The 'little girl' really started to make herself known when I got my first cd player and cd's. This was the 90's, before mp3's.
The cd player display would show a track number for a second or so, either while a song was playing or while stopped. But this was not a function on the machine, the track number didn't correspond to a track that was playing, or programmed to play next. This could have been a malfunction in the unit. But it then started to happen to the other cd players in the house (all different makes and models). All would do the same thing.
I'll try to demonstrate what happened... Say track 4 was playing and it was business as usual on the display. Then let's say track 9 displayed for a couple of seconds. Then back to displaying the correct track that was playing, in this example track 4. The sound from the track playing wasn't disrupted, only the display on the machine. You had to be physically looking at the display to know if/when it was happening. It was different tracks all the time and we felt as though the little girl was trying to tell us she wanted to hear which ever track number would randomly appear on the display.
I was a massive Madonna fan when I was a kid and it only ever happened with Madonna cd's, never with anything else. You'd be right to wonder what condition my Madonna cd's were in, as young kids don't go hand in hand with caution and care. But I was, still am, very careful with my stuff. Still got all my childhood cd's and none of them have scratches. (I was shocked by the pristine condition of my old cd's when ripping everything on itunes a few years ago. Pretty proud of that.) Enough trumpet blowing about that though.
I don't understand how a ghost could possibly change the display at will. But none the less it seemed very odd the same thing would happen to all 3 cd players in the house, when a Madonna cd was in the machine.
Mum noticed a hand print in the dust of one of the cd players one day. The hand print could have been made by anyone in the house. We compared everyone's hands to the print and no one's matched the size of the print. But still it could have been made by anyone who came through the house.
Probably the most amusing Madonna cd moment happened when no one was home. I got home from school one day to find one of the album booklets opened on my bed. I didn't leave it there, not on a school day and particularly NOT that album. There was one Madonna album that I always kept hidden away in case my Grandma dropped by and accidentally saw it. The album had provocative artwork in the booklet. My parents were cool with it but it wasn't the sort of thing to show Granny. We didn't have any teenage boys in the house either that could account for interest in *that* album art. The cd booklet moment remains a bit of a mystery, we always put it down to the little girl.
Fast forward to a couple of years later. I was almost thirteen and by now was discovering other music, bands like Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam etc. Music unlike Madonna. The cd players stopped displaying random track numbers at this time. I had stopped feeling the presence and stopped experiencing vibrations in the floor. Also the kitchen had stopped going bump in the night.
When I was about 13, well and truly into other music by this time. The 'little girl' was no longer something I thought of regularly. One night around this age I woke up in the middle of the night. Something I hardly ever do. My bedroom felt weird, not positive, not negative, but an abnormal kind of feeling. I felt compelled to get out of bed. No reason to, it was this feeling that I 'should' get out of bed. As if I was being asked to, it was strange.
I got out of bed, opened my bedroom door which opened out to the lounge room. To my right the sofa. The sofa was facing the same direction I was standing, the arm of the sofa was beside my right leg. I saw what I thought for a nano second to be my mum laying on the sofa (as she does when watching TV). But all the lights were off, so was the TV. At first I saw legs laying on the sofa, the legs were wearing bright orange lycra tights. I followed the legs up the body and to the face. It was a young woman aged 20 or so, very pretty, wearing some sort of dancing attire. She appeared to be sleeping or resting on the sofa. Her hair was bright blonde and pulled into a tight ponytail which dangled over the arm of the sofa near my right leg. (her head was right beside me, her legs on the far side of the sofa to me.) I froze and at this point I think I gasped or made some kind of noise. The woman seemed to evaporate into thin air. I was still frozen staring at the sofa. Then a cushion which her head had rested on started to shake violently. The cushion couldn't have been more than an inch from my hand. I filled with terror and ran into my mum's room.
I woke mum up blurting something like "Mum wake up, the girl, she's on the sofa, she's not a kid, she's an adult!" My mum is completely unfazed by ghosts. Mum, bless her, replies very tired and half asleep "Oh how wonderful. Don't worry she just wants to say hi." I completely disagreed with this and wanted to tell her about the cushion. But was too scared to say any more. Mum was back to sleep within seconds. (Thanks mum!) I stood in mum's bedroom for what felt like a long time but was probably about half an hour. I looked out mum's bedroom window, frightened the woman would come in the door behind me, I don't think she did. I could feel a strange feeling still coming from the lounge room. When the strange feeling had dissipated I bolted back through the lounge past that sofa to my bedroom and threw the covers over my head. Morning couldn't come quick enough!
I still get scared just thinking about it.
The sofa incident happened around '94. My impression at the time was that she had really NOT liked my change in musical taste. But I was 13 or so when I jumped to that conclusion. My impression today is that it's something I don't understand. I don't know why she did that.
As a side note I was completely shocked to see she was an adult, not a child. All that time I had assumed she was 'my age'. I don't know why this detail floored me, perhaps it was the nature of the reveal.
I didn't experience much from her for many years, apart from feeling a presence every once in a while. Not a bad presence either. Years went on and I hardly thought of her at all.
Fast forward again to 2005, I was 24 and beginning a new relationship with a man whom I was with for 3 years. I was totally in love with this guy and it felt like the most amazing romance ever.
The first time I stayed at his place I woke up in the middle of the night, again not like me. The same feeling from '94 was in his room, and this time I had the urge to stay in bed. I sat up, my boyfriend was asleep. As soon as I propped myself up I felt like something was on the bed. I saw the same cushion from all those years ago on the bed covers on my stomach, it was shaking violently as it did the first time. The leotard wearing woman was sitting on the bed, I think. She was whispering in an angry tone "Get out, get out" over and over. She started to appear at the edge of the bed beside me. At first she was faint and then she sort of faded into clarity. I hid under the covers and I assume she got clearer, I don't know. I could feel 'something' pushing me out of the bed. It wasn't a physical sensation, more like a strong will. But there was NO way I was getting out of that bed. I could hear her voice getting closer to my ear. My boyfriend, who was facing the other direction, on his side, started to stir. He said, in a tired state, "Come on, over here" He thought it was me whispering at the cat to get out of the room. Everything went quiet and still at this point and he went back to sleep, completely oblivious.
I was very scared that night but it wasn't as bad as the first time. I don't understand where the cushion came from. It was the same one from when I was a kid, it wasn't there in the physical sense this time. The first time it was an actual physical cushion we had for years. But obviously that same cushion was not physically in my boyfriend's room.
I didn't want to tell anybody what happened this time. I asked my boyfriend if he heard anything the next morning. He said he heard me telling his cat to get out. I didn't want to elaborate on that. I was too scared to.
That relationship with that man turned out to be some of the worst years of my life. It was an emotionally abusive relationship. The dancer woman, with hindsight I believe, was telling me to 'get out' of the relationship. I think deep down I somehow knew this and that's why I didn't want to tell anybody.
That was years ago and I've completely recovered from that time in my life. I guess the dancing girl is here to stay. I've felt her presence over the years since then. Still don't get why she had to scare me back when I was 13 though. Maybe she really didn't like my new love of rock music. Or maybe there was an underlying wisdom to her madness that I've yet to comprehend. When I got out of that abusive relationship I thanked her by playing some Madonna. I think she got my message.
I would love to know more about her, perhaps I'll open a dialogue with her at some point. But I don't want to invite any wrath either.
And boy can she make her temper felt!
Thanks for reading.

Evil Feeling 2

Evil Feeling 2

So I should have put this in my original story but thought it was long enough as it is.
Last week was when the sound of the light switches started, me and a different friend were down in the garage playing pool and when we came back upstairs she went back into my room while I stayed in the kitchen making a hot chocolate. Then that's when I heard the sound of a light switch going on and off for the first time. When I went back upstairs I didn't tell my friend because she grew up with this kind of stuff and I didn't want to scare her and make her want to go home.
Two hours later we went back downstairs because she wanted to make a hot chocolate. While she was doing this, I was on the balcony having a smoke, when all of a sudden she sprinted out into the balcony really frightened and she said that she could hear a light switch going on and off. Remember, I didn't tell her about how I heard the same thing so she had no idea and she couldn't have just made it up. She hates this kind of stuff and hates even talking about it so she wouldn't joke about it.
Also I just need to say after I posted the first story (Evil Feeling) I went to go pick up the friend from this story because she was going to stay that night but when we got home two chairs from the dining table had moved and were facing each other. I asked my dad but he said he didn't come home all day because he was busy at work.
I will post anything else that happens because I feel like I need some help and my dad is a logical thinker and doesn't believe in this kind of stuff so he just laughs at me when I tell him. So it is really nice to be able to talk to people who kind of understand what I am feeling.

The Dog Shadow

The Dog Shadow

This experience I've had happened in 2013 over the winter. My mother and I were sitting in my room on my bed bonding and talking about whatever there was to talk about. To give you an idea of my room: Once you enter, my bed is up against the left wall, I have my dresser right beside my bed, my closet would be right beside you, and on the right wall I have my TV, and my window with curtains on it. My room is connected to a room that my grandmother calls the green room. It just contains plants, her watering cans, planting tools etc.
So my mother and I were speaking and she looked toward my window and she just kept staring. So I looked toward the window and saw the shadowy outline of a dog, it looked like a German Shepherd. At first I was like, "Why is there a dog at my window?" Then I realized that it was winter and my grandmother ALWAYS leaves the door to the green room locked. That's when my mother and I realized that this shadow was a spirit because nothing could have gotten in or could have gotten out.
For some reason I was really scared. I couldn't see the spirit, but it was so intimidating because of its stance and the way its tail was wagging. I turned to my mom and asked, "Can you please go and check what is behind those curtains at my window? I don't want to do it." I was so scared I was just sitting there staring at the dog to see if it would do anything. My mom looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Hell no. I'm not getting up." So I grabbed my cell phone and called my father to come and see what this was.
Twenty minutes later, the shadow was still there. I heard my father enter the house and I yelled out, "DAD! COME NOW! HURRY." He rushed into my room and my mother told him that there was a shadow at my window. He looked towards the window, saw the shadow, hesitated and walked over. The shadow is still there in the same position. When he pulled back the curtains - guess what? NOTHING WAS THERE. We were so confused because we all saw the shadow there. Where could it have gone?
I don't know my house's history, and I certainly don't know if the past owners had a dog. But still until this day, I think about that shadow at my window and where it came from.

A Hand In The Depths

what I am about to narrate is not my own experience, but my late mother's. My mother had died when I was in 6th Grade.
My mom's house is in a little village in the state of Kerala, in India. The house was situated on the bank of a small river (it is the tributary to one of the bigger rivers in Kerala). The house is no longer there, having been torn down by my uncle to build a monstrosity of modern architecture in 1990s. The house was very old and I loved it very much because of its location by the river.
I used to think that my mom had the best of all places to grow up in. Of course, she was lucky to be in the midst of all the greenery, on the bank of a beautiful river. But there was a darker shade to it too.
There was a log bridge over the section of the river where it was least wide. The log bridge was made out of two logs of coconut trees, supported on other coconut trunk logs driven deep into the bottom of the river. There was a rope strung along the bridge to hold for support. I remember this bridge, from faint memories, when I had visited my mom's house in the distant past. The bridge has been replaced with a concrete bridge, the river has been clogged with weeds and the water doesn't seem to flow at all nowadays.
My mom, her brothers and her sisters all used to bathe in the river. They used to jump off the log bridge into the river, swim around and take bath on the bank, where steps had been cut into it to the side. One time when my mom was in her teens, she decided to go for a bath in the evening. None of her brothers were at home and her sisters were in the kitchen, helping their mother.
She got on top of the log bridge, jumped off into the water. She was swimming around. To the right of the log bridge, at a distance of 10 meters, there was a deep section of the river. Her parents had strictly warned my mom and her sisters to never swim in this section of the river. While she was swimming she saw a tortoise in the water and swam after it to catch it.
She didn't realize that she was swimming into the deep section. Suddenly the tortoise duck into the water and disappeared. Disappointed, she decided to swim back to the log bridge and start her bath. Suddenly, she felt a hand grab her leg and pull her deep into the water.
It was spring season, the water wasn't that cold. But she used to swear to us that the hand that grabbed her leg was icy cold. And she used to say that she knew it was a hand itself because she knew how the underwater plants and weeds feel like on your skin or cling to your skin.
She started screaming loudly. Suddenly a neighbor saw her, ran, dove into the river, caught her by her hair, and dragged her closer to the steps in the banks. By this time, she had fainted.
When she woke up, all the family was around her. They were enquiring as to what happened. She explained about the hand grabbing her leg and pulling her down. My grandparents calmed my mom down saying it is only a cluster of weeds in which she had caught her leg in and it's not a big issue and warned her not to swim in that section again. My mom was not so convinced, but let it go. For a week she used to have nightmares of the hand grabbing her leg.
A few weeks later, my mom and her sisters was visiting the neighbors. The old lady at their house, close to 102 years, told her that the particular section of the river is haunted. Her aunt, who was jilted in love, had committed suicide by jumping into river at same location (where my mom's leg was grabbed) when the old lady was still a child and it was her spirit that is haunting the river.
My mom and her sisters sat there with chills in their bones. The old lady's daughter also confirmed the same that the aunt was reported to have committed suicide there and her spirit doesn't want anybody to be happy and tries to make everyone who swims in the deeper section suffer. When my mom asked her parents, they did know about it all but didn't want to scare any of their children.
My mom and her sisters never went swimming in the river again and switched to bathing in a pool, built close to the house.

The evil doll

Ten Super-Spooky Ghost Stories To Keep You Awake At NightWe've read through your ghost stories and picked out ten of our favorites. Read on for tales of creepy photos, scary basements, a haunted daycare center, and one very, very unwelcome visitor.

My mother [...] had a large Shirley Temple doll when she was little whose eyes she says followed her, literally. She hated that doll, and it ended up buried somewhere, only to resurface when she was much older. She would not tell me the rest of the story until I begged her, and made me promise not to ask my aunt about it, and to not mention it again after she told me.
She gave the doll to my cousin. Why she did this, I can't imagine. She says that she had convinced herself that she was imagining things as a child herself, but seriously?
Anyway, my cousin is playing with the doll one day, when my aunt comes in and finds the doll TALKING to my cousin. So, she promptly freaks the fuck out, and takes the doll away. My uncle buried it, in pieces, as it continued to laugh up a storm.
That shit is evil.
I asked my aunt about it (against my mom's wishes), and she simply said, "I don't want to talk about it."
